These are difficult times for us all but any donation you can give us, however small, would be greatly appreciated and go far in Kovalam.

ONE-OFF DONATIONS

We need to equip the second phase of the Higher Secondary school – from fans to classrooms. £20 will buy a ceiling fan, £50 a blackboard and £1,000 will furnish a whole classroom which can be named after you.

REGULAR DONATIONS

Our ongoing costs go towards all aspects of the Trust’s work in Kovalam, from buildings’ maintenance to specialist teachers. However, although the new teachers needed for the influx of more than 400 new pupils are the Government’s responsibility, their budget now doesn’t cover salaries and we have had to take on this regular cost. A teacher’s monthly salary is £200 in Kovalam. Regular donations make a huge difference.

SPONSORSHIPS

We already have 400 sponsored children but many more desperately need our help for their welfare and to give them the educational opportunities for good careers and a future full of promise.  Sponsorship costs £14 a month. Contact: admin@venkattrust.org.in.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Energetic supporters have run for the Venkat Trust in a number of marathons and half-marathons, while others have held events such as cake and book sales. We have been adopted by a number of schools as Charity of the Year, which gives the added benefit of telling a new generation about life in a very different part of the world, as well as raising vital funds.

UNIVERSITY FUND

With more of our young people going onto university or college, we are raising money for our University Fund. Any contribution, whatever the size, would be very gratefully received. Fees for the courses range from £350 a year for a three year course, to £1500 a year for four years and £2000 plus for a five year medical degree. While the individual’s sponsorship savings and the additional help we get from sponsors greatly assist us, we still have a large bill to meet each year so contributions would be gratefully received.

Many families choose to have gifts in memory instead of flowers at a funeral and we are always grateful to be chosen as the recipient charity.
