These are difficult times for us all but any donation you can give us, however small, would be greatly appreciated and go far in Kovalam.

ONE-OFF DONATIONS

Our schools always need books and sports equipment and more games are needed for the sponsored children’s Sunday mornings at the JR Hall. We have been asked to provide interactive white boards for the Higher Secondary classrooms.

REGULAR DONATIONS

Our ongoing costs go towards all aspects of the Trust’s work in Kovalam, from buildings’ maintenance to specialist teachers. However, although teachers should be the Government’s responsibility, its budget now doesn’t cover salaries and we have had to take on this regular cost to ensure class sizes remain small and teaching quality is high. A teacher’s annual salary is £2,500 in Kovalam. Regular donations make a huge difference.

SPONSORSHIPS

We already have 300 sponsored children but  more need our help for their welfare and to give them the educational opportunities for good careers and a future full of promise.  Sponsorship costs £18 a month. Contact: emma@venkattrust.org.uk

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Energetic supporters have run for the Venkat Trust in a number of marathons and half-marathons, while others have held events such as cake and book sales. We have been adopted by a number of schools as Charity of the Year, which gives the added benefit of telling a new generation about life in a very different part of the world, as well as raising vital funds.

BRIGHTER FUTURES FUND

With more of our young people going onto university or college, we are raising money for our Brighter Futures Fund. Any contribution, whatever the size, would be very gratefully received. Fees for the courses range from £500 a year for a three year course, to £1500 a year for four years and £2000 plus for a five year medical degree.

DONATIONS IN MEMORY and LEGACIES

You can help us ensure that education continues to thrive in Kovalam in years to come by including the Venkat Trust in your will. Money goes so much further in India and you will know that you’re helping to change young lives for the better. Some of our supporters ask to plant a tree or sponsor a classroom or scholarship.

Many families opt to have gifts in memory instead of flowers at a funeral and the Venkat Trust is always grateful to be chosen as the recipient charity.

The Venkat Trust is signed up to Benevity which helps companies manage their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, such as charitable giving, volunteering, and grant-making.
